Can someone tell me if the Cisco Presence product is able to maintain chat logs for individuals using the IM feature?

Hi,

no, actually CUPS has no archiving function for IM messages like OCS or sametim.

this is probably an obstacle for bigger companies to deploy cisco's presence solution in bigger companies since legal restriction for archiving exists...
