LAPs continue to broadcast WLC Discovery Requests every 30sec

Why do my customer's LAPs continue to broadcast WLC Discovery Requests every 30sec even though they are already associated to a WLC and have static IP addresses?

Any help would be appreciated.

This is part of the process and every 30 seconds is the heartbeat. This is just how it is.

Thanks for the response. So, there is no way to stop the discovery requests?

no, you cant stop it... its the heartbeat that lets the ap know the wlc is still alive...

One other thing to look to consider. If the AP doesn't get a response in that 30 seconds heart beat then it increases the pace of the heartbeat in an effort to contact the controller. If it fails on these then the AP will reset and begin the LWAPP discovery process. This can be a problem if you over-subscribe your controller and it continuously exceeds 75% of CPU usage. Over subscription can occur due to WebAuth over-subscription and is a common problem seen on 2100 series controllers as all WebAuth on these models is software based and not hardware. The more clients accessing WebAuth the higher the CPU usage on a 2100.
