Hi all,
In our network here we have squid proxy servers.so when user access internet it goes through proxy server which is config on user Internet explorer .yesterday one of service was stopped on squid server and users were able to access internet very slow.but when we ping from user gateway using source as user vlan it was very fast.no latency.so my question is when we ping or traceroute it does not use broswer proxy?
Second which osi layer proxy server works i heard it works above layer 4.
Also if proxy is enabled on user internet
explorer and user do ping will it go throug user proxy

proxy servers run at the application layer, which is layer 7. Proxy servers generally filter web traffic, port 80...so ping and tracert will work fine from hosts.
