Resetting IP 7960 phone

Hi,

I just inherited a IP 7960 (firmware pom3 04-4-00) phone that is locked and password protected.

I don't have the password but everything i have tried from Cisco directions to online hasn't worked for resetting the phone or unlocking it.

I want to do an upgrade to it as it is set up for MGCP and I want to configure it for our hosted VOIP (SIP OR SCCP). Any guidance would be appreciated.

TIA,

CJ

Unplug the power cable from the phone, and then plug in the cable again.

The phone begins its power up cycle.

Immediately press and hold # while the Headset, Mute, and Speaker buttons flash in sequence.

Release # after the Speaker button is no longer lit.

Once the 3 buttons at the bottom flash in sequence Press 123456789*0#

If you do it right it will ask if You want to keep the network cfg...

(*If you don't do it right the phone will just reset normally*)

BTW, there is no such thing as a MGCP Phone, MGCP is for Gateways, I think you are thinking of SCCP

Hi,

I tried that but each time I hold the # key while the phone powers up, after the speaker button is no longer lit- nothing flashes. The phone just boots up normally. I have tried this over a dozen times to no avail. Could this reset functionality not be available for the firmware I have?

The Status screen shows:

Application Load ID: P0M3-04-4-00

Boot Load ID: PC030300

TIA,

CJ
