I like to use 3CDeamon for TFTP.... also make sure you can ping the management interface of the WLC from the tftp server. Disable any firewalls on the tftp server and look at the logs on the tftp server to see any activity. What code are you trying to upgrade the 2106 to?

thank you i will give it a try.

this is the code i am tring to update to;

AIR-WLC2100-K9-4-1-171-0.aes

Also.... If you are going to use 4.1, use 4.1.185. Here is the matrix of what code you can upgrade to from a certain code:

Looks like either you are pointing to the wrong directory or the file name you entered on the wlc is wrong. Create a folder on your desktop and point the tftp to that and see if that works.

Thank you,

i had to sleep on it to figure out what i was doing wrong.

in the contoler gui i was selecting the tftp directory, i was doing the same within the tftp program. it was messing it up. so in teh controller gui i typed in the file i wanted, but left the file location blank. only after this did the file transfer occur.. thank you for you help in this!

No problem.
