Regarding your question on whether bridging is in use in your case, perhaps the following statement about the function of the bridge will help you answer the question:

'The Bridge acts as a networking gateway between Cisco Unity and an Avaya Octel system on an Octel analog network. The Bridge must be installed on a separate and dedicated platform.'
