Hi,
I need to power down, move, and bring back on line a 6509 with one sup720. Other than making sure the config is saved, is there anything else (bootup related) that I should be aware of or perform before the move show ver shows his switch has been online for nearly 2 1/2 years.
Thanks

There are some modules that you should shutdown first before powering down the chassis such as the Firewall Services Module. There is a command in the IOS to do this
6500# hw-module module 7 shutdown
where FWSM is in slot 7.
The ethernet modules are fine with just a shutdown of the chassis.
Apart from that just be aware that if the switch has not be rebooted for 2 1/2 years you may have some issues with some of the modules. Hopefully you won't but i have seen modules that were working perfectly well stop working when the switch has been rebooted.
I'm not trying to worry you :) and chances are you will be fine but just be aware this can happen.
Good luck
Jon

Ok thanks
No FWSM in this one. Just the sup, NAM, and ethernet. I'll shut down the4 NAM first.
