Hi,

My name is Rohan.

I am trying to use router 2801 with a HWIC 2801 smart serial in the front of the router. But the cable that got shipped was the Octal to Noermal serial (big serial cable).

Can somebody help me out with the type and the part number of the cable required for getting console access of eight equipments.

I also want to know wether it is possible to expand the number of equipments by just adding another HWIC-8A card in the slot?

Thanks And Regards

Rohan Sahi

Hello Rohan,

you may like to use

8-Port RS-232 Cable Assembly

that provides 8 RJ-45 ports

or two 4-port RS232 that provides 4 DB25 ports each

see:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/routers/access/hardware/notes/marcabl.html

I think you can add a second HWIC-8A in the router to use it as a terminal server for 16 console ports.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
