Problem with Cisco 3020 blade switch for HP blade enclosure

I've got a Catalyst 3020 bladeswitch inside an HP c7000 blade enclosure and I'm having problems with the fiber uplink ports. No matter what I do, the fiber ports won't connect to another switch. When I plug in the fiber on the bladeswitch side, the lights turn on and indicate a connection, however, the lights on the other end of the link do not turn on, and a show interface shows the link as down/down. I've switched ports, switched SFP's and GBIC's (LC-SC cable), switched cables, all with no luck. I've also tried both ends with no configuration, and both ends with trunking configuration (encapsulation dot1q, and trunk mode).

If I use one of the copper gigabit links, the switch connects fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

--Brandon

I had the same problem.

Check your Software Version.

With 12.2(25)SEF1 it did not work.

You have to use 12.2(25)SEF2 or later.

With best regards
