FXS Polycom: Conf acting as a Transfer

I've got a CUCM 6.1 server using a Cisco 2821 router as an MGCP gateway. The router has a number of FXS ports. When an analog polycom device is connected to one of these ports is can make calls with out a problem.

When you press the conference button this happens:

1. Current call(Call A) placed on hold.

2. Polycom gets dial tone.

3. Number dialed, rings. (Call B)

4. Caller B answers, call is good.

5. Conf button pressed to join all parties.

6. Polycom drops out of call, Call A and Call B are still connected.

This is happening on mulitple ports and polycom devices, so I've ruled out hardware as a problem. Does anyone have any ideas on this one? Thanks!

Hello Gregory,

I am afraif that this is working as design. Support for conferencing on analog FXS is limited to gateways configured for SCCP (see the following for more info), but hookflash can only initiate transfer when the gateway is configured for MGCP:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk1077technologies_configuration_example09186a00801f3b42.shtml

When a gateway is configured for SCCP, you can initiate conferences and other supplementary services:

Hope this helps!

Makes sense to me. Both those links lead me to "not found" sites. Do have any others?

Hi Gregory,

I'll try to fill in for my friend Esteban for a minute here :)

Configuring SCCP Controlled Analog (FXS) Ports with Supplementary Features in Cisco IOS Gateways

Hope this helps!

Thanks Rob,

For some reason the links that I had on my bookmarks are not working anymore. Good to know that I can count with you ;)

Here are some other links:

Have a nice day guys!

Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try once I read through and understand it all.

You are welcome and please let us know how it goes!

Okay, if I understand everything correctly, this won't work if the rotuer is configured via MGCP. I'll have to reconfigure it as a SIP gateway (like the CUBE config) and set a dial peer for those FXS ports with the hookflash config on it?
