Guys
just to get the basic steps down. we have a CCM 4.0 currently and need to migrate to a 6.1.2. the customer ordered the 6.1 preinstalled server already. can we use the DMA. im seeing that we need to have 4.1 to go to 6.1 so im assuming no.
if thats the case i suppose we will just have to rebuild from scratch.
thanks in advance

DMA can only be used on fresh installs, if you already installed the server you cannot use DMA

sorry i should have been clearer. the "Installed Server" i mentioned is the base install that we can order from Cisco with the application already installed
Therefore consider it a fresh install.

check the upgrade matrix, and see which versions are compatible.
during the install procedure you get the option for upgrade and will be asked for the TAR file

Hi Arvind,
Hope all is well! Just to add a note to the good info from Jaime. If you want to use DMA rather than rebuilding then I would go to CCM 6.x with DMA (from CCM 4.0) and then complete the upgrade to CCM 6.1(2)
I'm pretty sure that the upgrade paths from 4.0(2a) are as follows;
4.0(2a) to 5.0(4) = Direct
4.0(2a) to 5.1.x = Via 4.1(3) *Two Steps
4.0(2a) to 6.0.x = Direct
4.0(2a) to 6.1.x = Via 6.0(x) *Two Steps
Have a close look at this excellent doc;

Hope this helps!

hey thanks for the reply
this would mean that if the customer purchased 6.1 software/Hadrware we have two options
1. Rebuild everything from scratch
2. Purchase the upgrade from 4 - 6 and then the Upgrade from 6 - 6.1?
No software Subscriptions available

Hey Arvind,
You are most welcome my friend!
Yes, I believe these are your two choices.
Take care,
Rob
