is the radio only half duplex?

we have a 1240 access point on our speed test we are getting only about 13MB when we should get around 30MB my vendor is telling me thats becuase the radio only works on half duplex is that correct??

Yes... compare it to a hub environment it is a shared media.... all devices have to listen and wait for their turn to talk.

so would it make sense that the speed shows half of what it suppose to be?
