VG224 ports giving transient connection

Hello

I have a VG224 in my network which has some ports configured in ccm and some are not part of database.

I see error in ccm as shown:

Event Type: Error

Event Source: Cisco CallManager

Event Category: None

Event ID: 3

Date: 8/18/2008

Time: 10:22:02 AM

User: N/A

Computer: LC-CCMPUB

Description:

Error: DeviceTransientConnection - Transient connection attempt.

Connecting Port: 2000

Device name [Optional].: AN1C58C8F82B401

Device IP address.: 172.16.2.245

Device type. [Optional]: 30027

Reason Code [Optional].: 1

App ID: Cisco CallManager

Cluster ID: StandAloneCluster

Node ID: 172.16.1.21

Explanation: A connection was established and immediately dropped before completing registration. Incomplete registration may indicate a device is rehoming in the middle of registration. The alarm could also indicate a device misconfiguration, database error, or an illegal/unknown device trying to attempt a connection.

Recommended Action: No action is required if this event was issued as a result of a normal device rehome..

Do you think shutting the ports in VG224 will stop those error.

Secondly how to I confirm which ports to shut since MAC do not show up on port level.

TIA!

either configure them in cucm or disable the voice port in VG224

Hey,

HOw do I know which MAC in cucm correspond to voice-port in vg224.

Just do

voice-port 2/1

shut

?

Those last two numbers in the device name in the event log are the port number.

You can shut the voice port, or remove the service stcapp from the dial peer, or the easiest thing to do is just configure it in the CallManager - you don't have to assign a phone number to it, just do the basic config. That is the most obvious if you want to use the port later, you don't have to remember to go correct the config on the device.

Thank you!
