CUPC and Instant messaging questions

1) What Cisco products are needed to have instant messaging?

2) Can you disable soft phones on CUPC. Our auditors recommend that we keep voice and data seperate.

3)Would I need Microsoft Office 2007?

We have Call Manager 4.2(3) and Unity 4.05 for Exchange Upgrading to newer versions soon.

Well for the Cisco Unified Personal Communicator you need the Presence server integrated with Active Directory, indeed you can disable the softphones and use the desktop with your CUPC. You can integrate your CUPS with Unity to hear your VM on the CUPC interface and also to change the presence with your outlook calendar.
