I like to route some of the patterns going to our TDM switch to play an annoucment during the time when connectivity between CCM & TDM box is down. Is there a way to achieve this, i am Ok if this is a manual task but would be glad if there is way to automate this too..just like another RG under route list

unfortunately there is no way to do this, when connectivity is down or you don't have any GW to route the call all you will hear is a fast busy. the annunciator is not invoked during this process, CUCM just tells the phone to generate the tone.

what if during outage we manually change the patterns to point to a Unity Call Handler ?

just thinking if this is possible if yes how ?

you would need to create translation pattern with the same pattern and route it to VM, but that means you would need to modify the CSS from all devices to use the partition from the translation pattern before the route pattern when the outage happens and then when GW is up again to modify again the CSS to remove the TP partition

possible but not really practical

Well, following jaime's idea, you could try this:

Let's say that you have your Route Pattern 7XXX on partition TEST_1, and a Translation Pattern 7XXX on partition TEST_2

Then on the CSS assigned to you should have the partition TEST_2 before the partition TEST_1

When you are having the problem you will have the Translation pattern, and since it is the first one on the CSS list it will always take the TP, now when everything cames back up then you delete the TP so it will take the RP. If the problem happens again you only need to recreate the TP, that way you avoid changing the CSS for all the phones.
