WAN throughput reading

skhirbash

Would be accurate to say that the reading of the Input and Output of the WAN link interface represent the acutal throughput of the link?

Here is an example:

61444960 packets input, 3632170433 bytes,

75982428 packets output, 2708158323 bytes

Thanks in advance,

sK

Yes, per your output, your link is 3.6Gps input and 2.7Gbps output.

You can change the interval the throughput is checked with the load-interval interface command.

Some interfaces check the throughput every 5 minutes while others check the throughput every 30 seconds. You can change this default behavior with the command mentioned above.

Thanks much Edison.

Edison,

Did you mean Gbps or GBps?

Thanks,

sK

WAN throughput is measured in bits per second so you type Gbps. GigaByte is used for storage and file transfer measurement.

Your input should be 29 Gigabits/whatever time you have it accrued in.

Your output is 21.66 Gigabits/whatever time you have it accrued in.

bits = 8 * Bytes

Thanks.

Good catch Rais, I didn't realize he posted bytes in the first post until now :)
