Hi there,
I have some equipments in the company that have modem for manufacturer usage...
Can I connect an ATA186 for this kind of dial up access ?

Yes, you can. Keep in mind though that the ATA's do not support high speed. It's mainly used for fax machines. Expect 14.4k speeds.

Hi Andrei, some people will say yes and the majority will say no. ATA's struggle with anything over 9.6kbps so the best solution would be to install an FXS card into your voice gateway.

Hi Andrei,
The official answer from Cisco is that modems are not supported with the ATA and that only low-speed G3 faxes (14.4 kbps or less) are supported. However, some customers have had luck with modems working with ATAs. This means that if modems work with your ATA then that is great but if they do not work then do not expect assistance from Cisco in getting it to work. I hope this makes sense and also explains why the answer to your question can be a bit confusing.
