Hi,

What config is required for Cisco 4507 with Two Supervisor.

If one SUP fails ; automatically 2nd SUP should take over.

By Which command I would test the failover of SUP

Here are the answers to your questions inline:

1) The show version command will show the IOS versions on both supervisors. The "show redundancy" command will show which SUP is primary and for how long and much more information. The "redundancy force-switchover" will reload the active SUP and the standby will become active.

2)Nothing more to configure on the switch to recognize the other modules. SSO is strictly for supervisor redundancy.

3)When you telnet/SSH to switch you will only connect to the active supervisor.

4) To reset a particular supervisor to defaults you will need to remove the redundancy commands otherwise it would wipe out both supervisors.

Amin,

Heres how to configure SSO redundancy between two supervisors in a 4507R chassis. Also note that the supervisors must be running the same IOS version and feature set. Here are the commands to configure SSO:

redundancy

mode sso

main-cpu

auto-sync standard

After you input the above commands it will reboot the standby supervisor into SSO mode. To force a failover from the primary to the standby using the command line use the "redundancy force-switchover" command. You can also use the reset button on the supervisor to simulate a supervisor failure.

<> Do I need any other configuration for the redundancy SUP to recognize other modules..

<> Wil the telnet/ssh connection drop when the switch moves from One SUP to another SUP

<> How to reset the module to factory settings if any issue occurs
