Hi can you attach the "show tech" output.

It will be easy to find the meaning of the above errors.

Be careful, while using "show tech" as it generaates a lot of output..

Hello Uzziel,

see

MISTRAL Messages

This section contains Mistral ASIC (MISTRAL) messages.

MISTRAL-3

Error Message %MISTRAL-3-BAD_PAK: Possibly un-encapsulated packet passed to Mistral:

int [chars] type [int] stat [hex] flags [hex] size [dec] encsize [dec] offset [dec]

requeue_token [int] r1 [int] r2 [int] total detected [int]

Explanation A badly encapsulated packet from the process level was passed to the Mistral ASIC.

Recommended Action Copy the message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system log. Research and attempt to resolve the issue using the tools and utilities provided at http://www.cisco.com/tac. With some messages, these tools and utilities will supply clarifying information. Search for resolved software issues using the Bug Toolkit at http://www.cisco.com/pcgi-bin/Support/Bugtool/launch_bugtool.pl. If you still require assistance, open a case with the Technical Assistance Center via the Internet at http://tools.cisco.com/ServiceRequestTool/create, or contact your Cisco technical support representative and provide the representative with the information you have gathered. Attach the following information to your case in nonzipped, plain-text (.txt) format: the output of the show logging and show tech-support commands and your pertinent troubleshooting logs.

Error Message %MISTRAL-3-NOEOBCBUF: No EOBC buffer available. Dropping the packet.

Explanation The Ethernet out-of-band channel pool of receive buffers for the Mistral ASIC has been exhausted. No additional input packets can be handled until some buffers are returned to the pool.

Recommended Action Copy the message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system log. Research and attempt to resolve the issue using the tools and utilities provided at http://www.cisco.com/tac. With some messages, these tools and utilities will supply clarifying information. try to post the sh stack output on the output interpreter.

If this error happened multiple times you may need an HW replacement.

MISTRAL is the name of an ASIC I don't know if it is on a linecard or on the supervisor.

Hope to help

Hi, im sending you the output of the show log command, i wish to know about the exceptions counters and why could it be increasing.

this exception caused the equipment reset.

Attached file.

thanks.

Hello Uzziel

here is the output of the output interpreter.

Is asking the sequence:

sh module

sh log

CATALYST STACK DECODE NOTIFICATIONS (if any)

ERROR: Stack content is present from 'show log' but additional information is

missing from 'show module'.

The required information to decode the stack content is available by using a combination

of commands based on the Catalyst platform.

For Catalyst 4000:

- 'show module'

- 'show crashdump 1'

For Catalyst 5000 and 6000:

- 'show module'

- 'show log'

TRY THIS: This output is from a Catalyst 5000 or 6000 and you need to submit the

output from both the 'show module' and the 'show log' commands (in that order).

Please include both command output in the same submission to receive a decode of

the stack trace.

SHOW LOG (CatOS) NOTIFICATIONS (if any)

INFO: The counters found in the 'show log' output are totals since the last 'clear

log' command was entered. These statistics are kept even after reloading the switch.

Use the 'clear log' enable mode command to ensure that these counters are current.

For the ACTIVE NMP

WARNING: Power Supply 1 has failed 1 times.

Note: These numbers may be misleading and should be carefully interpreted.

TRY THIS: Capture the output of 'show system' and submit it to the Output Interpreter

for analysis. Submit 'show tech-support' output for a system wide analysis from

the Output Interpreter.

Running Cisco IOS (Native)

WARNING: The log output indicates 1 exceptions.

This number tracks the number of exceptions in the program and the number of Non-Maskable

Interrupt (NMI) counters. It tracks error conditions that altered the normal

flow of the program. It also tracks changes in conditions that cause the microprocessor

to stop the current task and handle the situation through a different routine.

These exceptions are similar to interrupts. The NMI is a variant of an interrupt.

It is a high-priority interrupt that cannot be disabled by another interrupt

operation. Fatal exceptions (which are exceptions where packets cannot be forwarded),

are recorded on the NVRAM log.

TRY THIS: Reseat the Supervisor module and all the linecards. If there is a frequent

increase in the number of exceptions, open a service request with Cisco at

TAC Service Request Tool.

Hope to help
