hi,

I have a 4506 switch running 12.2-31.SGA7

and i use static routes instead of routing protocols.

How can i check the state on a static route?

I want to add backup routes with track but the IOS doesnt support the rtr command only track <1-500> ip route.

If you are going to add backup route also static one, then you can make the backup static route as floating by putting it's administrative distance higher..

...so you don't have to worry about tracking your primary static route!!!

HTH..

I also have floating backup static routes but dont work because the switch cant understand that a route is "down". Is more than one hop awy.

Maybe you need to use the Dynamic Routing Protocol...

This document contains the releases which support object tracking.
