CER for Remote Locations

Hello everyone,

Scenario: Centralized Call Processing with CCM 6.0 and CER 2.0. Remote branches that have analog lines in Cisco for the PSTN calls via IP phones registered back to the CCM at Central.

Issue: Working on a failover scenario. WHen the analog lines are down hard (natural disaster, service outage, etc)we will route outbound calls back over the WAN automatically and out the PSTN at Central. No problems doing that except for 911 calls. If the calls are routed out of Central then the PSAP at Central will pick up the call and have the wrong address. Of course 911 operators will verify the address before dispatching and can probably transfer the call to the corect PSAP. We want to eliminate that issue by routing the 911 automaticlly to the right PSAP (Might be on the other side of the state). Can CER do that and if so how?

Thanks in advance! All replies rated

You will need to route the 911 to local PSAP by having local Trunks. If the trunks are down you are probably better off not routing the 911 call rather sending it to the wrong PSAP. All routing logic will be determined by your route list/route group configuration, so you are in control where the call goes and unfortunatelly carrier will not route 911 from one PSAP to another as there is no way for them to know where you wanted to send the call to.

HTH,

Chris
