Hi Netpro,
quick question, is that any reason why must i use metric 500 ? any reason behind it ? actually i am doubt about cost of value, example : 100Mbps = 19 . etc. so, this 500 is equal to ??
your reply will be highly appreciated.

Jack

u can put whatever mertic u want
but here u may see it high
the idea is always prefer the route through the ospf if not then through the external route which is redistributed route
because in some case u mgih have to route to the same distination so the lwoer metric will be chosen
u can change route metric selctivly if u want maybe for spisifc network make it 200 for example by useing route maps!

Hi Marwanshawi,
thanks for your answer, basically i just curious it could be using metric 1 as well.. then why would it need to put 500 for metric.
as we know OSPF always choose the SPF .
anyway, thanks :)

right
but with spf there is metric and cost participate on the path calculation
if u have path through two routers and path to the same network though one router
but the first path lower metric and cost then will be chosen regardless the number of routers
in other words the link with higer bandwith will be prefered
thanks for rating
and hope this helpful
