HI!

in some of the EIGRP configuration we are using the wildcard mask.

can anyone tell me why we are using widcard mask in EIGRP configuration and what is advantage if we used it

I have this problem too.

Hi,

You are using wildcard mask to define on which intrefaces/network EIGRP should run on precisly.That is you can choose on which interfaces EIGRP should form the neighbor releationship.

If you are not using wildcard mask then you are running EIGRP on all interfaces which fall under that network number.

e.g

network 10.0.0.0

will run EIGRP on all interfaces having 10 network.You don't have to add multiple network statements for each interface.
