Hello Jeff,

on what type of linecard have you tried to configure the command ?

in 12406 what you can do is linecard dependent : don't expect to be able to use QoS features on 3GE engine 2 linecard for example.

You can do it in old 1GE engine1 linecards or 4GE engine3 linecards (that support modular QoS).

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe ,

Slot 2 type = 3 Port Gigabit Ethernet

state = IOS RUN Line Card Enabled

How can i verify the engine?

Thanks.

Hello Jeff,

use

execute-on slot 2 sh ver

however, it is the 3GE engine2 linecard for sure and it is a backbone linecard with no QoS features.

or sh gsr

Hope to help

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,

Using thise rate-limit input 140000000 96000 96000 conform-action transmit exceed-action drop will give a output of 5 minute input rate 156677000.

It is working but a little tweak maybe.

What do you think?

Hello Jeff,

I admit that I was remenbering wrong.

the 3GE should support a subset of functionalities of real CAR that is called PIRC (Per Interface Rate Control)

probably you cannot use an ACL to define traffic to be rate-limited.

And I think you cannot use on subifs.

We had a customer using them so marking was done on C7500 edge routers.

I was not able to have it working in some lab setups but I had collegues able to.

I apologize.

Have you used sh int rate-limit ?

Best Regards

Giuseppe

Hi Giuseppe,

Here's the output. I dont know if this will be stable. Using rate limit of different value and attaining a different output.

Input

matches: all traffic

params: 138000000 bps, 96000 limit, 96000 extended limit

conformed 5991343 packets, 3542M bytes; action: transmit

exceeded 346155 packets, 349285916 bytes; action: drop

last packet: 1ms ago, current burst: 0 bytes

last cleared 00:03:25 ago, conformed 137971200 bps, exceeded 13603595 bps

Thanks a lot.
