Hello,

I'm doing some testing with IPTV. The setup is as follows. The content is fed into a cisco 2960 (vlan 360). There is a 7206 connected to the 2960 via a trunk port, the another vlan goes off the2960 to the subscribers. The 7206 is for control of the content being put onto the network (we may have multiple content providers one day). Anyway, when my testing is done the content is still be pushed into our 2960 (vlan 360), then it is transmitted to the 7206. This is not the behaviour I expected as there is a constant 40Mb stream going to the provider. I thought the 2960 would use igmp to 'prune' off the data and stop it reaching the 7206. Am I missing something here?

The 7200 has PIM -SM running on all interfaceds and the 2960 has igmp snooping enabled (default)

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you seen Cisco Wireline Video/IPTV Solution Design and Implementation Guide:

We had a similar issue with the 2960's and found out they don't do IGMP snooping at layer 3 which is what they are getting from the 7200. We had to go to a layer 3 device to do the pruning.
