Calling from Mexico to US

Rick Morris

All,

I have a CME site in mexico that has a generic dial-peer set up to route 9T calls out the telco line.

What is the best way to set this up?

How do you place a call outbound from this site, non-VoIP call?

I do not know how to dial the US from a Mexico phone.

Your generic dial-peer forwards all digits inculding the 9, the quickest solution would be to remove the "forward-digits all" command, but I would recommand making more explicit dial-peers as this one will always introduce inter-digit timouts. Create one for Local, LD, International and emergency dialing.

00 - international direct dialing (00 + country code + nat'l number) including USA and Canada.

01 - domestic direct dialing (01 + area code + number)

02 - domestic operator dialing (02 + area code + number)

09 - international operator dialing (09 + country code + number) including USA and Canada.

I plan on doing that, but wanted something to test with first.

How do I strip the 9 so just the actual number outpulses?

Do I just remove the foward digits command?

Everything else look ok?

Yes, pots dial-peers automatically strip explicitely matched digits, so in your case since 9 is explicitely matched it will not be forwarded.

HTH,

Chris

awesome this is what I thought but still new to all of this. more familiar with CUCM 6.1

Now about dialing out in Mexico, how do you make a stateside call?

is it the same as done here in the US, 1---####

I believe it is 001-NPA-NXX-xxxx

Thanks Chris.

I found a lovely little cisco feature that when you do no forward-digits all

it likes to make that statement forward-digits 0

I had to remove the whole dial-peer and reapply the config without the forward statements.

Thanks for everything!

Also, CDW, where you based out of? we are using them a lot for our IPCC and now getting Voice Advantage for a lot of issues I cannot either get to or resolve myself, we have been getting support from Southfield, MI

I am out of Chicago office, hopefully we are treating you well :-)
