I understand that 8.1 or higher (maybe 8.3?) is to be released for all platforms sometime soon. That is the version I'm looking for a timeline on.

Sorry, I don't know...but I'm curious: Was there a features list released somewhere? I'd like to see what is going to be in the new version

I don't know of a feature list yet - there doesn't seem to be any 'official' comment on the release. I have heard rumors that the VPN portion of the code is to be completely re-written, solving some of the weird ways ACLs have to be designed for filters. Right now everything is from the prospective of the 'remote' end, whether or not the remote end initiates or receives traffic.

I hope Cisco puts out some kind of word soon.
