This may sound like a lame question but we have to open the top off of our cisco 3845 router and so far we have only been able to take the front panel off??
We need to install an additional piece on the motherboard.
Any suggestions/advice would be great.

That was not helpful at all... only shows the 3800 and 3825 but The Cisco 3845 is hard to open.
Please need to figure it out.

Hello,
you cannot remove the top cover. The 3845 has a plug-in motherboard which you have to remove in its entirety to have access to whatever you need access to:

You can't open the cover of a 3845. 3845 has a modular motherboard which slides out of the chassis.
The board is mounted on a metal carrier that contains ejector latches to assist with insertion and removal.
Loosen the two screws at each side of the top board and slide it out. Simple as that.
