Are there any plans to add an L2 redirect option to the ASA line of devices for use with WCCP?

Correct Answer by dstolt about 8 years 8 months ago

WCCP has been mostly developed and maintained on the switching and routing platforms. The L2 redirect features specifically was introduced to take advantage of the hardware supported redirects in the Catalyst line. Only recently was wccp introduced on the ASA and then only with limited features. They will probably look at enhancing it in future releases, however, currently (and in the near future) it doesn't look like L2 is on the roadmap.

That's too bad. Do you have any insight as to why that option hasn't been baked into the product?
