7206 flash error

I've got a 7206VXR NPE-G1 router. The show flash command shows an error:

CD-EXTERNAL1#show flash: all

Open device slot0 failed (No such device)

Error getting file system status.

The DIR ALL command shows the existence of disk2: and bootflash:

This doesn't seem normal to me. The router is working fine, but I need to do an IOS upgrade and want to make sure I'm not gonna run into problems.

Frank,

Do you have a compact flash card in the router? It is indicating that the router is looking for files on your compact flash card and it is not there. You should be fine for your upgrade.

First perform a show version.

Look for this similar output.

System image file is "disk0:c7200-ik9o3s-mz.123-12d.bin"

If your system image file is indeed pointed to disk0: then perform a dir disk0:

If you can view the contents of disk0: then you should be okay to upgrade. If you can not view disk0: you should not upgrade because if you reboot the image file will not be readable and your router will be dead.
