I'm setting up an 851 series router and my ISP needs the WAN port MAC address. How do I view that in a telnet session logged into the router? Or can it be viewed in SDM? The IOS command sh arp only shows the LAN ports MAC.

Answered part of my own question, did a little more digging in the forum and found the answer: "sh interface" command. Thanks to the poster Albert Remo for the answer. Which port is the actual WAN port MAC address, FE0 or FE4? I'm assuming it's FE4 since it's physically labeled WAN and there was a desription for that port that read "WAN outside" in the sh interface results. Am I on the right track?

Hello Raymond,

on the telnet session do:

sh ip route 0.0.0.0

and see the outgoing interface name that will be the WAN outside interface.

However, you are on the right track.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
