I need to touch a few hundred switches and would like to automate show module necessary to support the os config push listed in the How to section. Can anyone tell me how to do it ?

You may want to try out
1. Cisco Works
2. Solarwinds Cirrus - (I've used this couple of time to for scheduled changes on multiple devices and works pretty well for me)

Naa .. actually doesnt help. I need to develop the snmp script myself. Dont have Cisco works or Winds ...
