connect router to two switches for redundancy

Hello,

i have two core switches and like to connect my border router to both for redundancy.

(Two routers with HSRP or VRRP are no option here.)

Is it enough to give the IP which i use as default gateway to a loopback interface and connect each ethernet interface of this 2811 with one of the core switches?

If an host which wants to reach the default gateway is sending an ARP request, which MAC-address will it get?

regards

Joerg

Hello!

Some clarification is needed to be able to help

1. Why you do not want to use HSRP or VRRP; this kind of redundancy is their purpouse

2. 2811 is your border router?

3. Gateway for your clients will be on the core routers? (I'm thinking that this is the correct way)

4. What routing protocol you intend to use between core sw and border router?

Cheers,

Calin
