How to find out that a switch is a L3.

is there any way we can find that a switch will support L3 functions. What to check is it the model or the IOS

You should be able to enable ip routing with

Switch(config)#ip routing

Or this may be enabled already.

Hi

First thing you have to check is the model of the switch then onto the IOS for the features supported in it.

AFAIK all Cisco switches till 2900s are L2 and switches starting from 3500 belongs to L3 generation and the features based on the IOS installed in it.
