Hi All,

I have just sourced a WS-X5748-GE-TX copper card from a 6509. When I install into a 6513 cat the card is not recognised. Any ideas what the problem could be IOS maybe?.

Rgds.

Harry

Not supported in that IOS and I don't believe with that Supervisor.

Good point Collin, i missed that one.

All WS-X67xx modules will only work with the Supervisor 720 so you cannot use this module with a Sup2.

Hi Harry,

I think you probably mean WS-X6748-GE-TX.

WS-X6748-GE-TX requires dual fabric and 6513 only support dual fabric from slot 9 to slot 13. In 6513 chassis slot 1- 8 support single-fabric only and hence you cannot insert a 6748 in any of these slots.

If you insert this line card between slot 9 -13 you should be fine.

Hope it helps!

CatOS min. version is 8.1(2) and recommended is 8.3(3).

I'll assume you mean WS-X6748-GE-TX.

IOS with Supervisor Engine 720 is 12.2(17a)SX

IOS with Supervisor Engine 720-10GE is 12.2(33)SXH

What are you running (software and Sup)?

Hope that helps.

Hi,

Thanx for responding

IOS 12.1.23e

Sup2 with MSFC

Are you running CatOS on the supervisor - if so which version.

Jon

no ios 12.1.23e

Not supported in that IOS and I don't believe with that Supervisor.

Good point Collin, i missed that one.

There are quite a few modules that will work. What exactly do you need. Are you just looking for 48 ports of 10/100/1000 and how many of those ports do you need to be able to run without contention.

The 6500 switch is quite complex and there are many different configurations depending on what you need.
