when is cisco ios xr in the ccie lab

i am starting the ccie sp prep after i got the r&s number.the news doing the rounds is that cisco is introducing the ios xr in the ccie sp lab.does anybody know "WHEN"

Cisco is well known NOT to give any timeframe for anything until it is already there.

Hello Kaustav,

they have introduced the usage of Cisco 7206VXR to differentiate with R&S lab.

First of all, any change is advertised 6 mounths before to be introduced in the lab.

However, it is unlike that IOS XR will be tested because it is currently supported only on high end routers like GSR 12000 and CRS.

A GSR 12008 will take half a rack alone so they would need additional racks to host devices like this.

In the future it is more likely they can try to introduce ASR 1000 with IOS XE that is much smaller.
