all,

do we apply ip policy route-map command on the main interface or could we do it on a sub-interface? our main gig interface is divided into data (g0/0.1) and voip (g0/0.2).

You apply the ip policy route-map command on the interface on which the traffic arrives that you want to policy route. So if the traffic arrives on a subinterface then you apply the command on a subinterface.
