12000 series router

I have confussion.I want to learn about IOS-XR and want to buy a router that runs it. I read documentation that 12000 XR router and run XR software. My question is that does 12000 come in 2 flavors, 12000 and 12000 XR? which one should i get?

also when I look at the download center, i do not see any place where it says download code for 12000 XR, but i see a place where it days download XR software, but the file name has CRS-1 in it. can the same XR code run on 12000 XR as well.

ARAIK the support starts from 12008 with the required upgrade so i dont think your chassis can support IOS XR.

Hi

Pls find the requirements/image details of IOS XR .

RP/Standby RP minimum requirements :

PRP1 or PRP2

1GB of RAM

1GB ATA Flash disk in Slot 0 (256Mb minimum)

Also find the Supported chassis below

Cisco 12008, 12012 plus 124xx routers from RLS 3.2

Bootable Image c12k-mini.vm-3.3.0 / mbiprp-rp.vm-3.3.0

Optional PIEs c12k-mcast.pie-3.3.0 / c12k-mgbl.pie-3.3.0 / c12k-mpls.pie-3.3.0 /c12k-k9sec.pie-3.3.0

Many thanks. I have a 12004 XR router can I run IOS XR on it? also where do I download these images from cisco download page? they are not available under IOS XR menu.

If you look at this cisco Doc table #6, it says that 12004 supports XR starting 3.3. Please can you confirm this. I will surely rate this post.
