eigrp hop is 224 , why it is 224? because igrp hop count is 255.

I have this problem too.

Hello Shankar,

an EIGRP update about an IP prefix contains the composite metric fields and a next hop count field that can be used as tie breaker or to decide if the route is usable.

Going through 224 routers is really unlike in an healthy network.

A traceroute can take up to 30-32 router hops and goes via a BGP AS path of max 7-8 AS numbers.

So this is not a limit that you should worry about in EIGRP implementation

Even a value of 100 would be enough.
