sup720 booting problems

I've taken a standby supervisor out of a 6509 chassis and installed it in a 6504-E chassis.

Couple of problems I observed.

1.switch boots up into rommon mode

2.show mod output shows the sup720 installed into slot 5 of a 6504-E which we all know is impossible as there are only 4 slots.

Some outputs are in the attached file from rommon and from after the switch is started.

any help would be appreciated!

Is it going booting manually

If you can run "show module" that means you are able boot the switch.?

use command

"remote command switch show version"

see the value of config-register

if it is not 0x2102, then correct it into rommon & then boot it

HTH...rate if helpful..

once in rommon mode I have to issue a boot command then the switch boots up. command "remote command switch show vers" says "cant connect to remote switch"

any other ideas?

OK,

First restore the switch to factory default settings.

Use write erase command "write erase" & reload

then see the results.

Again use "remote command switch show version" in enable privilege mode.

HTH..rate if helpful..

Ok, forgot to mention I have already restored this to factory default settings and here is the output that I saved.

It starts up and says the sup720 is in slot 5 I can't remote command to switch either. I've eventried another chassis(6504-e) same problem

What could be the problem here?

hello! I'm having the same problem.

whe I reload the 6509 switch, I get into rommon and it will only boot using the boot command.

When you are in Rommon mode can you enter

rommon 1 > confreg 0x2102
