Have a 3560 switch with 2 AP's and several VOIP phones attached. When I add a new AP I do a sho power inline and the AP shows as "CiscoPD" I have done a debug ilpower event and debug ilpower port and it seems to get to the detection but never finds out what it is. Any ideas?

you may want to check the amps and watts rating of the new AP you're trying to connect to your 3560 switch if it's supported.

How many ports is your 3560 and how many IP phones you have connected to the switch? Can you send the "show power inline" and "show log" output.
Thanks,

can you reboot your switch on observe if there's an error during POST (power on self test). might be a hardware problem and needs to be RMA'd from cisco tac

Hello,
This is due to wiring issue. Can you try to get one of the APs down from the ceiling and connect it directly using a stright cable to the switch? I need to segregate the problem.
I will get back to you soon how the wiring should be.

sent a new AP to the location and did that. We also hooked the AP directly into the switch with a patch cable on a different port and received the same condition
09-23-2008 11:49 AM
What type of AP is it?
Thanks,

From the log I can see that the AP is already connected to an AC power source. You need to disconnect the AC power source from the AP if you are going to provide inline power from the switch. Can you check that?

I will have that checked I am working this remotely and cannot see what (my hands) are doing.....
09-23-2008 12:38 PM
I have checked and the AP does not have another power source other than the switch providing it right now. We are interested in port 0/48. Can you also show me where in the log you saw this. Thanks....
