I appreciate the link to purchase a book about SIP, but I was just wondering if anyone who has implemented it felt it offered some huge advantages over MGCP, SCCP, or H323.

SIP support the URI dialing format which like ID@Domainname

and this give the ability to be used over the Internet, and now is commonly used by IM apps, VOIP and Video apps such as Skype

also it provides presnece capability like busy, online .etc

it dose support secure SIP as well
