Shaheen/Rob,

I don't believe 642-105 will recertify CCVP/CCNA as this is not a professional level exam. If you look at the following link, this exam falls under the category "Additional Proctored Exams for Validating Knowledge (not for Cisco Career Certification".

Hi Shaheen,

Yes, any 642 Level exam will recertify your CCVP and CCNA :)

Cisco Systems Announces Recertification Policy Update for Professional-Level Certification

Certification Holders Who Pass Any Professional Level Certification Exam Will Recertify Their Active CCNP, CCDP, CCIP, CCSP, or CCVP Certifications

SAN JOSE, Calif., August 15, 2006 - Cisco Systems® today announced that effective Aug. 18, 2006, individuals who hold an active Cisco® CCNP®, CCDP®, CCIPTM, CCSP®, or CCVP® certification will recertify their professional-level certifications when they pass any other Cisco professional-level certification exam. Certification holders will continue to re-certify their professional level certifications when they pass any CCIE written exam.

"The proliferation of advanced technologies such as network security has significantly increased the knowledge base required of networking professionals," said Don Field, director of certifications at Cisco. "The expanded professional level re-certification policy recognizes certification holders who have taken steps to diversify their networking knowledge and skills to keep pace with today's evolving networking environment."

Cisco requires that all professional-level certifications be re-certified every three years. This policy helps to maintain the integrity of Cisco certifications by verifying that those who hold active Cisco certifications possess up-to-date expertise.

Hi Rob/Brandon,

Thanks for your answers and this where I am confused and clarification. I hope someone can clarify this

.....it is listed under Specialist Certification Path

with no Prerequisites

......whatever Brandon said seems correct

......whatever Rob said seems correct

but I am very confused as it has course code 642-105 which also meet the requirements.

Can we have some more answers please ? possibily some Cisco Authentic source or may who have used this to re-certify CCVP/CCNP etc.

Thanks

Shaheen

Hi Shaheen,

My sincere apologies my friend! I am going to have to go with my friend Brandon here (+5 points here buddy!)

Almost everything I sent was correct except for the fact that the 642-105 is not a Professional Level exam.

This line tells the story (as nicely noted by Brandon)

"Additional Proctored Exams for Validating Knowledge (not for Cisco Career Certification".

The 642 level exams would have to be part of one of tne Certification Tracks (CCNP,CCSP, CCVP etc)

Sorry for the confusion :( I should learn to read a little more carefully.

Hi Rob/Brandon,

Many Thanks to both of you in clarifying this (you both deserved to be rated). Cisco should make a sensible decision to change all non-certification (like this exam codes) to something other than 642.

Shaheen

Hi There,

I have a CCNA and passed 2 of the CCNP exams (BSCI/BCMSN).

If I pass a single CCVP exam, but not ALL the CCVP exams before June 2009, when the CCNA Voice is a prerequisite for the CCVP, will I have to do the CCNA Voice exam to get a CCVP after this date?

Brandon Buffin Mon, 10/13/2008 - 07:09

From my understanding, you would need to pass all of the CCVP exams before June 24, 2009 for the CCNA to count as the prerequisite to CCVP. After this date, you would need CCNA Voice before your CCVP would be valid.
