HSRP & OSPF

Hi all,

I have a situation where I have two (2) 6500's (distribution layer) connected to another two (2) 6500's (core layer).

On the distribution layer 6500's I have HSRP configured for the networks that are in that particular block. The distribution layer 6500's and the core layer 6500's are all in OSPF area 0.

Obviously, both distribution layer 6500's advertise the networks they are gateways for into the core. Is there a way I can ensure traffic returning from the core will traverse the HSRP primary router?

Thanks for any help in advance.

You could i suppose by using ospf cost on the uplinks to influence one path over another or you can manipulate the bandwidth under the interface but i'm not sure why you would want to do this.

As long as your distribution switch interconnect has the same or more bandwidth than your distribution/core interconnects then i can't see what you would gain.
