PRI DSP Errors

Does anyone know what would cause the following errors to occur on a router? We're running two PRI lines, and keep getting these errors which result in dropped calls, and have also "seemed" to cause problems with voice service on other voice gateways (this doesn't make any sense to me, but this is what some of my staff has said.) Any help anyone out there can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve,

There are a couple of Bugs related to this error;

CSCsr56105 Bug Details

C2801: no audio on VoIP calls - C5510-1-NO_RING_DESCRIPTORS error logged

Symptom:

Cisco IOS C2801 VoIP gateway may experience issues with dead-air calls.

Conditions:

C2801 VoIP gateway running 12.4(20)T/12.4(15)XZ1 may experience audio issues such as dead-air or one-way audio for VoIP call present on the gateway.

When this occurs, the following error message will be displayed on the gateway:

%C5510-1-NO_RING_DESCRIPTORS: No more ring descriptors available

This particular issue seen in 12.4(20)T appears to be specific to the C2801 platform only.

Other DSP and network related issues may cause the C5510-1-NO_RING_DESCRIPTORS error to occur on other platforms, but this particular bug report is to address an issue specific to the C2801 platform.

Workaround:

There is no known workaround to prevent this issue while using IOS version 12.4(20)T/12.4(15)XZ1 on a C2801 platform. Downgrade the IOS version to an earlier release to avoid this issue.

Related Bug Information 12.4(20)T DSPs crash on %C5510-1-NO_RING_DESCRIPTORS

Symptom: The user experiences call drops or no-way audio due to a DSP crash Conditions: This issue exists in 12.4(20)T with T1/E1 circuits, with DSP crashes within 10-15 seconds on all outgoing and incoming calls. This appears to be specific to the 2801 with PVDM2-8s. Workaround: DSPware 21.4.3 does not experience this issue, and can be used as a workaround.

Hope this helps!
