I have a customer we installed Unified messaging 5.x and when he gets an voice mail it delievers him the VM in his Email but for some people it show's only the extension and other it show a name and extension, here's what the emails show - "message from 8124" and some of the users it shows - "message from Bob Jones (8188), I compared the two Unity Subscriber's and didn't see anything different, the customer won't let me look at the AD and claims that it's not in AD and it's in Unity, any ideas?

Is your Unity system Digitally Networked?

You may be running into:

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCsd38385

Else have a look at this:

http://www.ciscounitytools.com/TOI_Unity42.htm

Look for the Training Video for "Customizable subject lines".

per the video, the Advanced Setting Tool

in the Tools Depot has options for customizing subject text

for the Unity 4.2(1) release based on the source of the call.

If you open the Tools Depot > Administrative Tools > Advanced

Settings tool, there is a registry setting called "Administration

- Subject line customization, subscriber to subscriber messages"

Unity 4.2(1) and later allows some customization of the subject

line text Unity constructs for new inbound messages. There are

4 different subject lines used for inbound messages:

1. Messages from known subscribers to another subscriber.

2. Messages from an unknown caller to another subscriber

3. Messages left for an interview handler

4. Messages left via the live record function.

Subject lines can include any text and use "insertion variable"

strings for adding the subscriber's name, extension, calling

number and called number. If the variable in question is not

available, it will simply be blank in the subject line.

Currently four insertion variable strings are available to

include in the line:

%NAME% (sending subscriber's name or sending interview box's

name)

%EXTENSION% (sending subscriber's primary extension or sending

interview box's DTMF ID - if available)

%CALLERID% (Caller ID as obtained from the switch integration)

%CALLEDID% (Called ID as obtained from the switch integration)

Subject lines can be edited only for US English via the Advanced

Settings tool.

No difital networking, just a single 5.x Uniifed server with Exchange 2003.

Thanks for the info, I've verifed that the settings are correct, however they still seem to get about 50% of there calls with only the extension and not the name. Where are they getting the name from? Is it in AD or in Unity?

Tony did you fine the source of your problem? I've got a customer that appears to be having the same issue.

Tried taking display name out of AD thinking that may be it but it auto inserted alias, instaed of full name.
