rommon in SUP720

Unanswered Question

Hi there,

We were trying to upgrade the IOS on cisco 6509 E with SUP720-3B. For some reason, the SUP720 is not coming up and is stuck in ROMMON mode. We did try to boot manually but in vain. We did transfer the new IOS file thru xmodem but once the file is transferred, the booting stops after decompressing the image.

We have copied the same image onto another SUP720's , which works fine.

We dont even have flash cards...so we are still stuck in ROMMON :(

Any help would be appreciated!

I have this problem too.

Hello!

Where did it stopped when you tried to boot manually from ROMMON? Some errors appear maybe?

If you do not have CF cards where did you copied the IOS image (which version?)? I know from experience that newer IOS version (SXH3, SXF) have more than 64MB (which is the capacity of sup-bootflash) and I'm wondering which IOS are you using.

Please give some more information to be able to help!

Thanks!

Cheers,

Calin

Probably an unneeded question but are you in RP and not in SP?

(Route processor & switch processor).
