if you monitor a VLAN using;
monitor session 1 source vlan 10 both
will this monitor all traffic that is transmitted in the VLAN or just broadcast traffic etc??

Presumably you are referring to VSPAN - ie. the ability to SPAN all traffic within a vlan.
If so you should see all traffic not just broadcast traffic.
