WAAS: DRE on a 'short' link

Hi,

We need to compress traffic on a short (2 msec) fat (100Mbps) link between two sites. We are not concerned with applications' chattiness - just bandwidth.

Would DRE optimisation kick in for such a short link? I assume 7341 and 7371 do this in RA mode. Is there a way to tweak a WAVE-274 to achieve [DRE] compression on a 'short-fat-network'?

Thanks

David G

DRE will kick in regardless of the round trip latency and you will be able to achieve a reduction in the data the will be sent. On a 100 Mbps link you should plan on using at least a 7341 depends on the number of connections that will be used across. Replication mode should be used for replication traffic such as NetApp snapmirror or EMC SRDF and is tuned for lower number of connection and bulk data transfer over a high speed link, The WAVE-274 is designed for lower speed WAN links (up to 2Mbps)

Good point, thanks for your help.
