I would like to know if the 2800 series platform supports VPLS, VPWS configurations.

No, the 2800 series do not support VPLS. However WPWS I can't remember.
To my knowledge VPLS is only supported at highend platforms such as 7600, 12k and CRS-1.

The 2800 does support Layer 2 Any Transport over MPLS (AToM) pseudowires and l2tpv3: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t2/feature/guide/gtl2tpv3.html
